Olympiastadion Berlin inaugurates “Walk of Fame” and “Wall of Fame”
On Friday May 16, 2014 the DFB Cup “Walk of Fame” and “Wall of Fame” were in the spotlight during a press conference at the Olympiastadion Berlin, one day before the 2014 DFB Cup Final.
The “Walk of Fame” commemorates the Cup heroes and famous names in connection to the history of German football and especially the DFB Cup competition.
The first 13 cup heroes were appointed by nomination by an expert’s jury and a public vote among all football fans. Starting now, each year two cup heroes will be added to the “Walk of Fame”: one will be the MVP of the year’s cup final and the other will be a cup hero from the 70 year history of the DFB Cup.
The “Wall of Fame” was dedicated as another pilgrimage destination for tourists visiting the Olympiastadion Berlin. The 40 meter-long wall depicts each one of the 35 finals held at the Olympiastadion Berlin on a plaque that includes the date, participating teams and logos as well as the result.
The “Wall of Fame” and “Walk of Fame” are open to the public on a daily basis during the regular opening hours of the Olympiastadion Berlin.
