Running and a breakfast afterwards: The traditional “breakfast run” on Saturday morning before the Berlin marathon from the city castle in Charlottenburg to the Olympiastadion Berlin (about 6 km) saw about 11.000 runners participate. The runners ran as a group and arrived on the blue track at the Olympiastadion Berlin in just about a half an hour.
The run started at 9.30 a.m. and by 10 a.m. the group reached the Olympiastadion Berlin. Accompanied by a group of about 30 drummers, the runners celebrated the arrival at the stadium. Each of the participants was treated to a breakfast on the outer areas of the stadium grounds, before all 11.000 returned to city to prepare for the marathon the next day.
