New lawn at the Olympiastadion Berlin

Hertha BSC and the Olympiastadion Berlin GmbH have jointly decided to renew the lawn at the Olympiastadion Berlin.

First, a part of the track is going to be protected with a cover and the old lawn will be milled within two days. After that, the new lawn is delivered: 8,000 square feet spread over 25 trucks. With special machines the coiled lawn (1.2 meter wide and 8 meter long) is laid like a carpet.

The lawn itself is a high-performance sports equipment: solid types of grass and intensive root penetration are essential for the first-class quality.

The lawn care team of Head Greenkeeper Alan Cairncross maintains the new infield daily and provides optimal conditions for the professional football team.
