Borussia Dortmund vs. VfL Wolfsburg – the 72nd DFB Cup Final. The highlight of the national football season and the figurehead of the world’s largest sports association. 75.815 spectators will fill the sold out Olympiastadion Berlin, while people in more than 150 countries will follow the game on their television screens.
Just seven days later on June 6, FC Barcelona and Juventus Turin – the 23rd UEFA Champions League Final. It is the ultimate match in European club football and one of the most prestigious titles in worldwide club football. More than 165 million people in 200 countries followed the action live.
147.000 spectators inside the stadium. 20.000 VIP guests, partly accommodated in the 45.000 square meter large tent village next to the stadium. 13.000 accreditations were handed out to prepare and execute the events.
For the UEFA Champions League Final, UEFA has declined to use the additional stand on the marathon gate plateau. 70.500 spectators will attend the match. The teams will not enter the stadium via the marathon gate as is done for the DFB Cup Final, instead using the regular player tunnel at center field.
Once the biggest match in German club football is history and the UEFA Champions League Final just 168 hours later is over as well, a historic week will be complete.
