Berlin’s Olympic heroes at the season opening of the Sportmetropole Berlin
At the opening of the upcoming season, the Sportmetropole Berlin initiative has honored jointly with the Governing Mayor Michael Müller and the Senator for the Interior and Sport, Frank Henkel, all of Berlin’s Olympic athletes.
In front of 500 guests and a stunning setting, the “Welcome Home” ceremony provided a fitting framework for Berlin’s elite sport. Eleven of 42 medals were even won by Berlin-based investment/involvement/participation: “Berlin was and is – and so it should stay – a sports city,” said Müller.
