ISTAF starts ticket sales with christmas special
After the ISTAF is before the ISTAF! Just in time for Christmas 2010, the event organisers are starting ticket sales for the 70th edition of the international stadium festival ISTAF on September 11, 2011 with an exceptional offer:Until December 24, 2010, two tickets of the best category at the finish line run just 49,- € instead of the regular price of 78,- €!
The international stadium festival 2010 was one of the best attended and most atmospheric track and field meetings in the world and performance showed that as well: Kenian runner David Rudisha improved upon the 13-year-old 800 m World Record and Ethiopian Tariku Bekele set a new world-season-best in the 3000 m in front of 46.512 spectators, who also saw five wins by German athletes.
The event organisers are planning on celebrating three anniversaries with 220 World class athletes and 60.000 spectators on September 11, 2011: 90 years ISTAF (the first was staged 1921 at the small Grunewaldstadion), 75 years Olympiastadion Berlin and the 70th edition of the ISTAF! The German television station ZDF will broadcast live in 2011.
The total budget for the event has been raised from 1.6 to 2 million euros in light of the anniversary edition of the ISTAF and to make the event at least as successful as the 69th edition in 2010. “The IAAF World Championships 2011 in Daegu end the week before the ISTAF. We want to get as many international medallists to Berlin as possible. And of course all successful German athletes”, said ISTAF-CEO Martin Seeber.
The low ticket prices from 2010 will stay the same for the year. Tickets in category 4 (lower tier curves and upper tier) run just 9,- €, category 3 tickets (lower tier back straight) run just 19,- € and category 2 tickets (main stand starting area) run just 29,- €. Even the category 1 tickets (main stand finish line area) are affordable at 39,- €.
Until December 24, 2010, you can also take advantage of the ISTAF Christmas special: Two tickets of the best category 1 (finish line) for 49,- € instead of 78,- €!
