Bor. Dortmund wins German Cup Final 2017
Borussia Dortmund is the winner of the German Cup Final 2017. In the 74th German Cup Final the BVB won 2:1 against Eintracht Frankfurt. In front of 74.322 spectators in the sold out Olympiastadion Berlin, Dembélé put Dortmund ahead early (8th minute). The unfancied squared the score when Ante Rebic scored after 29 minutes. When Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the penalty kick in the 67th. minute a thrilling game had found its winner in the team of Thomas Tuchel.
By winning the Cup Final Hertha BSC automatically qualified for the group stage of the Europa League.
Since 1985 the German Cup Final regularly takes place in the Olympiastadion Berlin and is one of the biggest events in sports in Germany. 64 teams (36 clubs from the 1. and 2. Bundesliga as well as 28 clubs from the lower divisions) compete in five knockout phases to get to the final.
