Founded in 1904 the Berlin Athletics Association is the oldest member of the German Athletics Association. The association consists of 74 clubs with more than 12,000 members. The BLV is the central access point for track and field in Berlin and organizer of the ISTAF Berlin and INDOOR ISTAF, the most popular and traditional athletics meetings in Germany.
Central tasks are the dissemination and promotion of athletics by its member clubs, the implementation of an attractive competition program for athletes from school age to seniors, the development of contemporary measures for leisure and health sports, the education and training of coaches and trainers as well as the further development of teaching athletics and the promotion, training and support of performance-oriented talents as well as the development of educational concepts.
