DFB-Pokal Final 2023 RB Leipzig defending their title against Eintracht Frankfurt
RB Leipzig beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in the 2023 DFB-Pokal Final last Saturday. Leipzig can defend their title from the previous year.
A long, exciting game was offered to the 74,322 spectators in the sold-out Olympiastadion Berlin. While Leipzig controlled the match from the beginning and were able to have more possession of the ball, Frankfurt meanwhile defended well. Major chances were few and far between and it took 71 minutes before Christopher Nkunku hit the Frankfurt net with a twice deflected shot in what was probably most likely his last game for Leipzig. The goal changed the game and in the last 20 minutes Leipzig developed a higher drive to the enemies goal. Five minutes before the end of regular time, Dominik Szoboszlai scored for the 2-0. Referee Daniel Siebert allowed four minutes of stoppage time, but each of Frankfurt’s attempts were of no use. In the end, Leipzig raised the DFB-Pokal into the night sky of Berlin and thus successfully defended their title.
